Gatlin's Unbeaten Season in Numbers

Posted by: Watch Athletics

With an absence of history's fastest man Usain Bolt, American sprinter Justin Gatlin dominated men's sprint events by setting season's fastest times in 100m and 200m races.

The-32-year old Gatlin set world leading and personal best marks of 9.77 in 100m on September 5 in Bruxells and 19.68 seconds in 200m on July 18 in Monaco. Both results crushed into histories top 10 list with the 100m time sitting now in 5th place and the 200m sitting in 9th place. Impressively,  Gatlin never tasted a defeat this year by claiming victories in all of his 19 contests - 16 in 100m and 3 in 200m.

Gatlin, who served doping ban from 2006 to 2010,  averaged 9.93 seconds in 16 of his 100m races with an average wind was (-0.25) meters per seconds. In fact, the six time Olympic champion, Usain Bolt, in 2009 season when he set current 100m and 200m world records averaged 9.95 in 100m in 15 races with averaging -0.19 seconds.
